Cancer Council Sunscreen Maintains Market Leadership Position!

Despite a tough summer season where Australia was faced with devastating bushfires and the Coronavirus pandemic, Cancer Council sunscreen has successfully maintained it’s market leadership position and continues to be Australia’s favourite sunscreen. In addition to this leading position, the brand has been voted the Number 1 Most Trusted Sunscreen 5 years running.
Last year, Cancer Council alongside other key health bodies and researchers agreed on new recommendations for sunscreen use – determining that Australian’s should use sunscreen daily during summer or whenever the UV is forecast to reach 3 or above.
The new recommendation is based on the evidence that suggests that daily sunscreen use can help protect against the occasional UV damage that occurs as you go about your day – on the way to the bus, popping out at lunch to grab a sandwich or to the shops and all adds up and increases your skin cancer risk.
Professor Sanchia Aranda, CEO, Cancer Council Australia says that even small amounts of UV exposure can do damage.
“Incidental UV damage adds up over time, ultimately increasing your skin cancer risk. So even if you aren’t planning to be outdoors during the day, you can benefit from some protection.”
No matter the temperature, if the UV is 3 or above be sure to slip on sun-protective clothing that covers as much skin as possible; slop on broad spectrum SPF30 (or higher) sunscreen; slap on a broad-brimmed hat; seek shade; and slide on some sunglasses. Use at least a teaspoon per limb, front and back of your body and face, neck and ears, apply 20 minutes before heading outdoors and reapply every two hours.
